Here is the video that we watched during science time today. Before we watched it, the first graders talked about different at home experiments they could do. We also discussed what good scientists do and what they do not do. Enjoy this video! | |

Today during language, the first graders got to participate in writing a class story. We talked about different story elements and the importance of a beginning, middle, and an end. It was so fun to hear all of their creative ideas! Here is the story they came up with as a group given a picture prompt.
The Hot Day at the Beach One morning, an ant named Fred, planned a trip to the beach with his mom. The ants packed up their goggles, sunscreen, towels and a lunch. They walked to the Pizza Shark Beach. The walk made them very sweaty and hot! At first sight of the water, Fred ran and splashed into the salty ocean water. Fred and his mom played in the ocean for one hour. Then they decided to take a break from swimming. The two ants swam to shore. They were looking all around to find some shade. Finally they saw a sombrero left behind from another swimmer. They went to get a stick to help hold up the hat. Fred and his mother sat underneath the hat and had a picnic lunch. After they ate a sandwich, an apple, pickles and strawberry cake, they were full. While they were resting, an old man came and picked up his lost hat. The ants were furious and tried to run after the man, but they could not catch him. His mom decided it was time to go home. Fred didn’t want to walk because he was exhausted so they climbed up on a car and rode back to their house. Fred and his mom had a great time at the beach. |
